Letter from Charles S. Peirce to Carlile P. Patterson
(Cambridge, MA, 01.03.1875)

Spanish translation & annotations

Cambridge
1875, March 1

Dear Sir,

I suppose I ought to have written to you before (you doubtless received my telegram) in regard to your very considerated offer about Mr. Farquhar. He agrees to it, and I am extremely glad as it will make my

work very much easier. That one aid will be enough. I also desire to thank you very warmly for suggesting that Farquhar’s pay or a portion of it be additional to what is allowed for my expenses. If I understand you rightly about this, I trust you will give me an authorization for Mr. Hein to pay that additional. April 3 in the Adriatic. I am excessively hard at work & that is why I was so stupid as not to think that you would expect a letter from me.

Yours very respectfully
& truly

C. S. Peirce
