A. Records of the Comparison of Yard nº 57 with yards nºs 1 and 58 made in 1883, as follows:

1. Copy of note addressed by Mr. Lowell to Mr. Chamberlain, President of the British Board of Trade.

2. Original records of C. S. P.'s simultaneous comparisons of Nos. 57 and 1. 28 + 1 sheets.

3. Copies of H. G. C.'s simultaneous comparisons. 28 + 2 sheets.

4. Originals of comparisons by H. G. C and C. S. P. of nºs 57 and 58. 18 + 1 sheets. These have not been reduced. You will please make the reductions as soon as your present reports are finished.

5. Originals of determinations of values of micrometer screws by comparison with micrometric scales on SS. See R. S. C. p. III and 126. 10 sheets.

6. Reduction of comparisons of thermometers. 2 sheets.

7. Mem. of errors of thermometers as previously determined. 1 sheet.

8. Letter of Mr. Chaney to Mr. Peirce stating mode of graduation of thermometers, difference of readings vertical and horizontal, and an additional comparison. 1 + 3 sheets.
