Letter from Thomas V. Lister to the Secretary to the Admiralty

Foreign Office May 22, 1875 Sir, I am directed by the Earl of Derby to transmit to you a copy of a letter from the United States’ Minister at this Court, requesting facilities for Mr. C. S. Peirce, United States’ Coast Survey, who is charged with the duty of connecting the pendulum work of that Survey with those of Great Britain and other European Governments; and I am to request that you will move the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to give the necessary directions accordingly, if there should be no objection thereto.
