Board of Trade S.W. 1883 June 22 Dear Sir, The bearer, Mr. C. S. Peirce of the United States Survey is on an official

visit to this Department and Mr. Chamberlain would be glad if the Royal Society would kindly assist him in the

inquiries he wishes to make in their library. Would you wish a letter to this effect to be addressed to you?

I should be glad as the time presses if you could however at once assist Mr. Peirce. Yours always, H. J. Chaney
