Sir,
To execute your instructions of the 24th inst. I require an advance of $250.
According to the certificate sent to Messrs. Morton, Bliss, and Co. my monthly expenses must exceed $500 or $260 over my pay. I have to pay 5% interest for amounts I may overdraw. Moreover, the advance is after this month really only $100 since it is not paid till the vouchers come to hand, say on the 12 of the following month, when my pay and actual subsistence will be $150.
