Fri 1/13/71
Geneva

C[harles] nursing his horrid cold. Changed our poor room for another less poor. Very cold. This bise is dreadful. Cold as the corner Winter St. & Tremont St. Beautiful day but Z[ina] not equal to going out.

Hotel pretty good. Attendance very indifferent, says C[harles]. Good enough, says Z[ina]. Table admirable, pudding excepted. Dreadful disappointment in finding no letters.

French cookery nice but oh for dear Italy says C[harles]. Z[ina] sneers coldly, & says O for dear America & stewed oysters. Our breakfast this morning was eyedearl (?). Pd 12 fr. for 2 pairs of gloves, one a nice lined pair for C[harles] 7 fr 50 & a demi nice chamois pair for Z[ina].

Attendance at this hotel very indifferent.
