Dear Sir

Yours of the 6th is at hand.

As to the second title for the book, some thing depends upon the preface which I understand from you it is proposed to prefix so as to satisfy Winlock’s friend. If that is done & I should approve of it (except that I protest against the preparation of the preface being taken out of my hands as if I was not as warm a friend of Winlock as any one) then a very simple title without his name would have come advantages, though I should like too to put his name on the title page if the felicitous manner of doing so


 

 

 

 

 should occur to me.

I will add a few names of Photometric Astronomers to the list for distribution & attend to the distribution so far as I can, as you seem to desire.

The two figures of the photometer & the photometric obs’y should appear at the end of the photometric researches. The best way would be, I suppose, to send out some good impressions on transfer paper, so that they could be transferred & printed in Leipzig.

I meant to make no complaint of you to Mr. Hein although he in a note to me uses of phrase which seems to imply that he so understood

 

 me.
