Paris, Avenue Matignon 11 1875 November 21         Dear Sir, I address this letter to you at Brentwood to say that I have written to you at the office & that I have written so often for the same simple information which might be given in one word that I cannot suppose you have read my letters. I therefore beg you will read the one I send to the office today which puts the question I ask very clearly. Unless you are

determined to drive me to desperation you will take the trouble to answer in the one word I ask of you. Yours very respectfully, C. S. Peirce
