Letter from Charles S. Peirce to Daniel C. Gilman

Baltimore, April 24 1883 My dear Mr. President, Something having gone wrong at the Coast Survey, I am obliged to go on to Washington and thence to New York and consequently cannot lecture at 5 today as I had announced; and I think I had better bring my course to a close. I will forward the Syllabus of Lectures from Havre as I want the quiet of the ship to write. Au revoir. I am sorry I cannot personally bid you & Mrs. Gilman good bye. Yours very truly, C. S. Peirce [in vertical]: My address in N. Y. is 109 E 15th St. I shall go on with the Century Matter.
