Article / Assessment of the online newspapers in the Basque and Navarre’s communities

Abstract /

This article proposes an evaluation of the online newspapers at the Basque Autonomous Community (BAC) and the Foral Community of Navarre (FCN), using established and valuable methods, in order to obtain a complete map of how the possibilities of the hypermedia language are developed by these enterprises. We analyse all the dailies that have an Internet edition: El Correo, El Diario Vasco, Deia, Gara and Berria in the case of BAC, and Diario de Navarra and Diario de Noticias in FCN. Firstly, we complete a previous evaluation of all the media using the methods of the documentation science. Secondly, we try a comparison between the Internet and the printed editions, comparing the results with the general conclusion of a similar European research in which the authors have taken part. Finally, we analyse the special reports and their hypertextual possibilities, applying the typical structures proposed by the theory of hypertext.
