Article / A theoretical approach to the concept of “female press”

Abstract /

The concept of “female press” has not produced much curiosity in specialized literature, even though important conceptual challenges exist that affect both the terminology about and the typology of women’s magazines. The term itself is problematic, and furthermore, there is no agreement in scientific literature about its categorization, as a result of a historical lack of interest that this type of publication has aroused in the academic world. This article intends to fill that void by providing a contemporary definition of the type of press addressed to women.
