Maintenance 

The Facilities Maintenance Service of the University is in charge of guaranteeing the upkeep and proper functioning of campus buildings and installations, as well as providing technical assistance to special events held on campus (congresses, scientific meetings, etc). The Director is Mr. José Luis Arteaga, whose maintenance team includes workers qualified in a variety of distinct specialties (electricity, electronics, heating, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, painting, etc.) Any person associated with the University (professors, employees, students, etc.) may submit maintenance requests concerning any problems observed, either by web (see below) or via written requests, which can be submitted at the reception desk of any building. The list below is a summary of the primary tasks for which the Maintenance Service has responsibility.

  • Normal maintenance of campus buildings and installations.
  • Repair of campus buildings, installations and basic equipment.
  • Elaboration and execution of the annual plan for performing major renovations or repairs.
  • Assuring compliance with the Fire Code, as well as the correct operation of fire prevention and extinguishing systems.
  • Contracting with external services for the repair of special equipment.
  • Control and archiving of plans, charts and technical documentation.
  • Management of campus telephone system, including lines and PBX. Handles ordinary relations with external telephone services.
  • Control and supervision of electrical network, and handling of ordinary relations with external electricity provider.
  • Control and supervision of campus water system, including drinking water, sanitation and collection of rainwater. Handling of normal relations with external water supplier.
  • Control and supervision of campus natural gas system, and handling of normal relations with external gas provider.
  • Supervision of ordinary maintenance work performed by external companies.
  • Control of climate control and heating of campus building.
  • Advising during the design of new campus building projects, based on cumulative experience of maintenance personnel.
  • Relations with the companies contracted to provide identification cards and security systems.
  • Handling package shipping and receiving.
