Objectives

In Europe and elsewhere, the citizens of the future will need to be familiar with at least two languages - and Spanish and English are increasingly being recognized as the two which will dominate international communication. This means that specialized training for language teachers in this area is more necessary than ever.

The Master in Teaching English and Spanish to Speakers of Other Languages aims to meet the clear demand for professionals and experts competent at all levels in the world of language instruction.

Through tutored national and international internships, students will make contact with different aspects of the world of teaching, while achieving their training objectives. Students will thus receive an all-round preparation for their professional future in a highly diversified sector.

The main aim of the Master is to equip professional teachers with solid theoretical knowledge and skills in the area of applied linguistics. The main objectives of the training provided by the program are as follows:

  • To provide specific training for graduates and young professionals who hope to teach languages at various educational levels.
  • To offer students the background knowledge and practical skills that will enable them to develop a curriculum suited to the circumstances, taking into account the different characteristics of the language learners in question.
  • To train professionals in the human and ethical values which will make their work effective, in the awareness that language teaching is not merely a question of techniques and strategies.
  • To provide a framework for all-round training in which language learning is understood as a decisive factor in a person's education.
