Letter from Edward H. Palmer to Charles S. Peirce
(Cambridge, 03.01.1873)

My dear Mr Peirce

I received your note the other week together with one from the Secretary of the P. E. F telling me that Lieut. Steever had started - I was sorry to have missed him but shall drop him a line & hope that he will meet our fellow traveller Drake who is out there. Since I saw you I have married & about 2 months ago Mrs Palmer presented me with a daughter - both mother & child are I am happy to say extremely well. I have not by any means given

up my intention of visiting America & had it not been for the recent event might have come near this year. Whenever I do I shall certainly not fail to accept your kind invitation to look you up as I cherish very pleasant recollections of our acquaintance in Constantinople & Cambridge.

With kind regards & wishing you all the compliments of the season

I remain

Yours very truly

E H Palmer
