DOUBLE LICENTIATE IN PHILOSOPHY AND ADVERTISING
How it works
In the first four years of the itinerary, the student will complete the licentiate requirements for Philosophy and the first-cycle studies for Advertising and Public Relations. In the two remaining years, he or she will complete the second cycle of this second Licentiate. Each of these Licentiate requires 300 credits; when studied separately, the total credits required are 600. Nevertheless, the Double Licentiate program offers the possibility of obtaining both Licentiates while taking only 464 credits.
This is possible thanks to the assimilation of compatible courses between the two degree programs, as well as the use of elective credits from each of the two Licentiates, in order to allow the student to obtain all the required credits needed for obtaining both degrees.
Why take the Double Licentiate?
Today, the experts in advertising and public relations are high-profile creators of the public space in contemporary society. They are the voice of the institutions which they represent, and the medium by which people who are widely separated geographically can nevertheless share a common reality. Our daily experience is not only nourished by direct contact, but rather it also draws upon cultural mediations, such as trademarks, images, styles and identities. To transfer to the public space those concepts and ideas that create real (and not merely fictitious) communities requires a deep understanding of the human person and of society, as well as the roots of the various cultures and traditions that make up human society. This understanding will necessarily have an important impact in a renewal of creative and communicative energies, making the advertising and public relations professional able to meet the challenges that a globalized society confronts us with.
