What the Program consists of

The curriculum for this double licentiate can be completed in six years of corresponding studies in both licentiates.

How it works

If one follows the recommended plan, at the end of the fourth year, the student will have completed the studies corresponding to the licentiate of Spanish Philology (of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences) and the two first two courses of the licentiate in Audiovisual Communication (of the Communication School). The courses of the 5th and 6th year are dedicated to completing specific studies in Audiovisual Communication. Each of the licentiates consists of 300 credits constituting in studies not of the program presented, a total of 600 credits. Nevertheless, the plan of study for the double licentiate allows for the the full development of both licentiates in 442 credits.
This is made possible thanks to the assimilation between the two Licentiates of certain courses, the use of credits from elective material which is compatible between the Schools, and open-elective credits reciprocally applied from licentiate to licentiate.

Why take the double Licentiate

Experts in Audiovisual Communication are creators of important realities in the public forum of contemporary society. Our daily experiences are fed by cultural mediations such as film, radio and television.
Bringing these mediations into the public forum requires a profound knowledge of the language used by society; the literary roots and linguistics of distinct cultures and traditions. Such knowledge is of necessary benefit to the renovation of creative energies and communicators of the new global society. The study of Philology can extraordinarily enrich the work of communicators, in the use of language, and words and their linguistic expression, which have always been the driving force of creativity.
