Given the interest that arises in Basque issues among students of all disciplines, the University of Navarra opened, beginning in the academic year of 1994-95, an academic channel for this interest including a degree.

In Diploma courses: 43 minimum.
In Diploma Research Report: between 4 and 7.
Total credits: 50.
One is not required to complete a minimum of credits per academic year.
All the licentiate programs have open-elective credits that can be oriented towards obtaining of the Diploma and some licentiates also offer elective courses which are valid for the Diploma.
Completion of the Diploma Research Report is optional. However, to obtain the Diploma, you have to have completed 50 credits.

1.
Courses required to obtain the Diploma: In order to pass any of the
three courses of Basque Language, proficiency in the language is required.
These classes are given in Basque. Attendance is mandatory.
2. Courses offered may vary each academic year, according to the teaching
plans of the licentiates with which they correspond.
3. During the academic year, collective courses, lectures, or seminars
on specific topics will be announced.
4. A course passed for the Diploma in Basque Studies can be transferred
towards a another degree within the University, with payment of co-validation
fees recorded before initiating the Diploma.
5. The completion of a Diploma Thesis is optional. With the thesis one
can obtain between 4 and 7 credits, depending on the length and quality
of the work. Before the completion of the thesis, the student must solicit
from the Diploma Board and the Director of the the Report, approval
for the topic.
6. For the formal registration of the Diploma Thesis the following is
required:
- approval
of- or in certain cases, co-validation- a minimum of 43 credits.
- within
these credits, approved or co-validated, Basque History and Culture
(6 cr.), and 16 cr. of Basque Language courses
- presentation
of document showing approval of the topic by the Director of the
the Thesis.
The registration has to be completed before the presentation of
the 3 copies of the Thesis.
Only after everything is completed, is the student informed of the
date for the Thesis Defense.
