"200 Years After: Returns and Re-interpretations of Kant"
8th.-10th. March 2004. XLII Reuniones Filosóficas. University of Navarra (Spain)

Introduction

The Department of Philosophy of the University of Navarra (Spain) annually organizes a philosophical meeting (Reuniones Filosóficas) in order to discuss an essential issue of Philosophy. Next year, the meeting will take place on 8th -10th March, and the topic selected for the event is the German philosopher I. Kant.

In year 2004 it will be commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Kant's death. Therefore we have considered it fitting to reflect on the enormous and various influence of Kant's philosophy throughout the past two centuries. Indeed, since then the history of philosophy could be certainly read as a series of returns to Kant, reinterpretations of his position in the light of new circumstances or otherwise a dialogue with him.

It is from this perspective that we have decided to frame the content of the Conference under the general title of "200 Years After: Returns and Reinterpretations of Kant". In this way, it will be open to the contributions from a variety of perspectives, since almost every philosophical discipline has been deeply transformed by Kant's work. At the same time, however, we would like to place a special emphasis in Kant's influence in practical philosophy, for this is perhaps the aspect of Kant's work that enjoys greater actuality.

Invited speakers: Robert Pippin (USA), Gerold Prauss (Germany), Alejandro Llano (Spain). Christine Korsgaard (USA), Juan Arana (Spain), A. Vigo (Chile), Otfried Höffe (Alemania), etc.
