Media activities
We learn by
doing as well as by studying:
hence the practical media
activities organized
at the University of Navarra School
of Communication
Practical work and contact with professionals in the field
have always been keystones of the educational program offered
by the School of Communication. Along with study, putting
what has been learnt into practice is a vital part of the
training of communication professionals.
In order to achieve this goal, the School of Communication
relies on:
- The involvement of more than one hundred distinguished
media professionals and former students who take active
part in the teaching of communication theory and practice;
- Excellent facilities: a television studio, eight digital
editing suites, five radio studios, information editing
suites, an archive, a sound studio, computer rooms, a
multimedia laboratory and wire-free web-access for laptop
computers.
In addition, many students combine their program of study
with guided practical work in one or more of the School
of Communication media outlets:
98.3
Radio Universidad de Navarra has broadcast cultural
and educational programming, with a particular focus
on the interests of its local and regional audience,
since 1999. Moreover, the radio service provides students
with an excellent opportunity to develop the practical
skills required in the day-to-day work of communication
companies.
Euroview is a cinema and television
production company based in the School of Communication
at the University of Navarra. It was established in 1989,
and is involved in TV programs, documentaries, fiction
and animation movies, corporate video production, educational
projects and the development of specific media assignments.
Nuestro
Tiempo, a monthly current affairs magazine, was
founded in 1954. It has been published every month
since its foundation: more than 600 magazines in total.
Working at Nuestro Tiempo has been a springboard to
success for many established journalists. One of the
activities organized regularly by the magazine is the ‘Nuestro Tiempo
round-table discussion’ where students are given
the opportunity to meet media professionals or academic
researchers to debate cultural issues and current affairs.
Boletín
MMLab, a weekly online publication, is produced in the
Multimedia Communication Laboratory by teaching staff and
students of the School of Communication. The bulletin compiles
news which is of particular interest to current and prospective
media professionals from online news services throughout
the world. The management and updating of www.unav.es/fcom is
also carried out in the Multimedia Communication Laboratory.
