CIEC
International Center for Communication Companies
Communication companies play a vital role in society:
the print, audiovisual and interactive media, along with
advertising agencies, communicate messages, ideas and values
to be accepted and/or responded to by a democratic society.
Moreover, media organizations are also big business with
high financial turnovers. Thus, the professional training
of media managers must be of the highest order.
IESE (the International Graduate School of Management)
and the School of Communication at the University of Navarra
have established the International Center for Communication
Companies (CIEC) in order to provide a meeting-point for
people in the media industry, to set an international benchmark
for media management, and to help each participating communication
company to hone its competitive edge.
The inspiration behind this project is profoundly humanist:
people before things; ethics before technology. Good media
management will facilitate the resolution of any conflicts
that may arise between the commercial imperative and the
public good. The pressure of profit margins and targets need
not be insuperable obstacles to respect for human dignity
and the goal of building a more just and equal society. |
