Sinisa Glavasevic
Sinisa Glavasevic was a Croatian
journalist, writer and poet, who worked in radio. He
graduated in Comparative Literature from the University
of Sarajevo and obtained the diploma of librarian. On
returning to Vukovar, his native city, he became director
of Croatian Radio. During the siege of Vukovar he
gave round-the- clock reports on the situation of the civilian
population, read children’s stories and gave descriptions
of the city as it had been before the siege. He was executed
without trial in 1991 by the Yugoslavian National Army
Forces and Serbian paramilitary groups.
Miguel Gil
Miguel Gil was a war correspondent
who lived his profession as a service to his colleagues,
to truthful reporting and to those innocent persons who
suffered under the circumstances of war. He was a law-school
graduate. At the beginning of the decade of the 1990´s,
moved human rights ideals, he left for the war in Bosnia,
and was soon sending reports to such newspapers as “La
Vanguardia” Barcelona, “El
Mundo”, Madrid and “Cadena Ser”. Shortly
afterwards he went on t
o become a photographer and producer for the Associated Press
television News. On 24th May, 2000, at the age of 33 years,
he was killed along with his colleague, Kurt Schork of Reuters,
in a guerrilla ambush in Sierra Leone. |
