II International Forum

In the year 2000, the Economics department of the University of Navarra created a new international study opportunity: The Bilingual Program. 50% of the Economics and Management classes are taught in English beginning in the first year of studies. Our aim is to give future graduates the tools to operate in international institutions in Spain and abroad directly after graduation. This November, the Bilingual Program invites you to its II. International Economics Forum 2002.

Th is year's topic will be:

Developing Countries and Financial Aid in times of global economic uncertainty

Two notable events have marked the world economy as we enter the third millennium: The burst of the e-bubble and the political confusion following September 11th. Both events have primarily hit the western world, but their combined impact has shocked the world economy. These are also having a significant impact in developing countries.

These countries' hopes, efforts and policies are frequently associated with their planned integration into the world economy. Their ability to adjust to the rules of the game, established by the international financial institutions and the donator countries, is supposed to determine their level of success in reaching development objectives. However, in times of crisis, the western world all too often seems to violate these same principles as the pace of global economic integration has significantly slowed. This year's II. International Economics Forum will be the platform to discuss both the present challenges of the international aid structures and the interaction between all parties that are involved in development projects. It is targeting the following question: Does the structural condition of international aid policy fit the actual countries' needs and ambitions of development?
