Introduction
The School of Economics and Business Administration at the Universidad de Navarra created in 1999 a Master in Economics and Finance Program with the objective of preparing top-level specialists in two increasingly important areas: economic analysis and financial theory. The Master became an Official Program in 2006 (awarded by the Spanish Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia)
In recent years, major breakthroughs have taken place in these fields, both in terms of the application of scientific knowledge to economic policy and in the way financial markets operate. The Master's in Economics and Finance Program will provide students with a sound foundation in these subjects. Acknowledging the importance of technical issues in both economic analysis and financial theory, the courses incorporate a rigorous and highly formalized level of mathematics.
At the same time, the theoretical aspects of the course material are enriched by practical applications. One of the main goals of the program is to encourage involvement in research projects and familiarize the student with current fields of research. The study of mathematical and econometric techniques will allow students to undertake this work with the necessary rigor. The program is taught in English and is clearly international in character.
Although the two previously mentioned areas of economic analysis and financial theory serve as the base of the program, they are complemented by additional coursework and research seminars. While the Program is mainly designed for graduates in Economics and Business Management, others with a sound quantitative training, such as engineers, mathematicians, and physicists, are encouraged to apply.
