Accommodation Information

The University of Navarra, recognizing the complications involved in moving to a foreing country to study, offers guidance and assistance to students as to the housing options available.

The Office of Student Accomodation can assist students in finding housing before their arrival in Spain if they so desire. The following options are available:

1. Colegios Mayores (Residence Halls): These facilities are integrated into the University. Residents are offered full room and board, academic support, and cultural and social activities. The University of Navarra has 12 such residence halls (7 for women and 5 for men) and can provide housing to approximately 1.300 students. These are usually reserved for students that will be in the University for entire year.

2. University Clubs: The University Clubs provide housing to students in flats and areas adjacent to the University.  In each lives a person who sees that the residence is properly maintained. The University Clubs are linked to the residence halls or professor’s residences.

3. University Residences: These are residences independent from the University and offer full room and board as well as information as to the distinct cultural and social activities of the University of Navarra and Pamplona. These residences while not connected to the University still demand a strict schedule and enforce a curfew.

4. Living with Spanish families. Students have the option to live in Spanish homes located close to the university.

5. Student apartments: For those interested, the University keeps a list of vacancies in sudent apartments. The University can contact the students and/or the property owner to facilitate the process. Most international students choose this option.

6.Also students can fnd apartment information in the Pamplona newspaper, El Diario de Navarra

The Office of Student Accommodation can advise students as to which option best suites their needs in an attempt to assist students to make the most of their time at the University.

How to Find Housing in Pamplona

To make the transition easier, students have the option of reserving two week´s temporary housing in a private home or student apartment.

Once the two weeks have passed and the student has gained some familiarity with the city and the campus, he or she should contact the Office of Student Accommodation to indicate whether they would like to remain in the same flat for the remainder course or whether they would like to find housing elsewhere.

A student interested in arranging transitional housing assistance prior to coming to Pamplona should do the following:

1. Send to the Office of Student Accommodation, at least 20 days prior to arrival, a bank or cashier’s check made out to the “Universidad de Navarra”.

· If the student whishes to stay with a family or in a pension, the amount of the check should be 150€.

· If the student wishes to stay in an apartment or flat with other students, the amount of the check should be 120€.

· The amount of the check, in each case, will correspond to the payment for the first two weeks of accommodations in Pamplona and is non-refundable.

· The student should be sure to include his or her complete name and the sentence “Alojamiento para extanjeros”.

2. The Office of Student Accommodation will send the student information as to where he or she will be staying (via post, fax or e-mail).

· The student should confirm, a week beforehand, the date and hour of arrival.

The Faculty of Economics and Business, through the International Committee, also helps guide students through the process of finding student housing in Pamplona. The International Committee can help with opening bank accounts, cell phone service and the general transition period of moving to a new country.

We generally recommend that International Students look for housing in shared apartments with other university students. This tends to work best for all involved. Also it is recommended that students arrive at least one week before the start of the semester to arrange housing and get settled in.
