• Construction Service

The Construction and Physical Plant Service manages the construction and renovation of campus buildings, as well as planning for improvements in campus infrastructure.

The Director is Mr. Rafael Callejo Gimeno, and the Coordinator is Mr. Antonio Izquierdo Azarulla.

The responsibilities of the Construction and Physical Plant Service can be summarized as follows:

  • New construction. Participation in planning for the fulfillment of physical plant necessities, management of construction projects and estimates, obtaining necessary licenses from appropriate governmental agencies, and supervising the external contractors involved in particular projects.
  • Repair and upgrade projects for campus installations. Development of studies and estimates, contracting, supervision and control of construction work.
  • Maintenance of up-to-date plans for campus buildings and installations, as well as operating instructions for the Maintenance Service.
  • Maintaining compliance with technical requirements and legal norms for the various university buildings and installations.
  • Studies and reports concerning the renovation estimates received from the Centers or from the University Administration.
  • Preparation of documentation required for obtaining insurance policies for university buildings and their equipment.
  • Handles ordinary relations between the University Administration and contracted architects or other specialists.
  • Preparation of the annual plan for major renovation or conservation activities in campus buildings or installations, in cooperation with the Maintenance Service.
  • Preparation of estimates concerning furniture and other building equipment.
