- Landscaping and Grounds
The University of Navarra campus comprises 113 hectares of grounds, of which nearly 40% are planted with grass. Abundant and varied gardens create an ideal environment for the university community. The Grounds and Landscaping Service, whose director is Mr. Rafael Callejo Gimeno, is responsible for the planting and maintenance of the campus gardens and lawns. The Service employs eight grounds specialists, headed by the Mr. Francisco Díez de Ulzurrun, and uses modern tools and equipment to perform its tasks with a high degree of mechanization. The administrative offices are located in the Gardening building, located at the far east end of campus. The principal tasks of the Grounds and Landscaping service are as follows:
- Tilling, seeding, planting, weeding, irrigation, pruning, etc. of the gardens and lawns.
- Cleaning of campus roads and sidewalks, and the emptying of waste containers.
- Assisting in the maintenance and cleaning of soccer and rugby fields and other sports installations.
- Maintenance of a campus nursery for the cultivation of the various plants needed in the gardens.
- Preparation of the annual plan of special projects for gardening or irrigation, etc.
- Supervision of those tasks contracted to outside firms.
