Urban management and design and the protection of the environment are two of the areas in which contemporary legal practice encounters many important challenges. Those law students who wish to orient their professional careers towards Environmental Law or Urban Law need, in addition to a solid legal formation, an understanding of the legal reality relating to their areas of specialization. In many cases, the laws and regulations in these areas make reference to scientific and technical concepts, which require the legal specialist to have additional knowledge in the specific area being treated.
For this reason, the School of Law of the University of Navarra, together with the departments of Zoology and Ecology, Geography and Territorial Management and of Urban Planning and Management of this University, offers those who are studying for a licentiate in Law the opportunity to take the Diploma in Environmental and Urban Law.
The Diploma in Environmental and Urban Law is a university-accredited degree of the University of Navarra. It is open to those students who are taking the licentiate degree program in Law. It does not require a taking additional credits above and beyond those required for the Licentiate; rather, students orient their open elective and in-program elective credits towards the courses required for the Diploma.
Those students those study for the Diploma in Environmental and Urban Law will obtain 27 open elective (LE) credits and 24 in-program elective (Opt.) credits.
