Bioinformatic Resources Available at the Department of Genetics


  • TICdb is a database that contains information on the sequence of breakpoints for reciprocal translocations in cancer. It was created in the Department and access is free to all.
  • Some Internet bioinformatic resources can be found in the web pages (in spanish) pertaining to the course "Introduction to Bioinformatics", from the Biology Degree.
 
The following tools are only available locally, and can only be accessed from within the University (or using the VPN connection, if outside the University):

  • EMBOSS 6.2.0 is a package of advanced bioinformatic tools for sequence analysis and is comparable to commerical packages such as  GCG. It is available locally (on a Departmental server), thanks to the extraordinary interface developed by Luke McCarthy.
  • Primer3 is a tool for the design of primers, created in the Whitehead Institute (MIT). It is locally installed, with help in Spanish, and can be accesed from any computer in the University of Navarra.
