The study of some of the major issues of globalization: What is at stake? Who are the main players? How are these issues treated in the media?

The media and the Internet play a key role in facilitating globalization by overcoming cultural and geographical barriers and extending access to knowledge and markets. But they are also blamed for facilitating abuses and undermining cultural diversity. In today’s interdependent world, the challenges posed by global issues such as climate change, corruption, migration and sustainable development are of vital political, social and economic concern. This course will examine the underlying factors at work and look at how the international community is addressing them and how they are treated in the media.
